Type Locality and Naming

Along Burchakyr Mountain, western part of the Kara-Tyube Mountains. V.S. Korsakov et al., (1960f.).

Synonym: Burchakyrtau Suite, Бурчакыргауская св.


Lithology and Thickness

Dolomites, limestones with layers of cherts and horizons of siliceous-carbonate rocks. Tungsten mineralization is associated with quartz-vesuvian skarns, and manganese manifestations are associated with cherts. Thickness 350-360m

The boundary with the underlying Atkamar Fm is normally stratigraphic

Age 

The Wenlock age is accepted based on lithological comparison with the Katadjar Fm and Terikbabin Fm of the Zirabulak-Ziaetdin Mountains according to their position in the section (Korsakov et al., 1984f.). Previously, these deposits were distinguished as "Wenlockian" (Korsakov et al., 1984f.). On the State Geological Map-500 of Uzbekistan (460) - lower Silurian, Wenlock stage.
